Arnold Palmer Design Company’s renovation of Walt Disney World Palm Golf Course in Orlando, Fla. received second for renovation of the year in the public course category.
“After 40 years of maintenance and 2 million rounds, the course was understandably worn out. Seven months and $1.2 million later – the smallest budget of any winning project – it is a whole new course, with Arnold Palmer Design Co. to credit.” writes Golf Inc.
“We reinvented the bunkering by distilling the quantity down only to the most essential bunkers while adding flair and punch to those that remained,” Thad Layton said of the newly remodeled course, which now plays about 40 minutes faster than it did pre-renovation.
